Garden Design

I think Simon and I are just those type of people that will always be making changes to our home. The latest, is of course the little house.  As I explained in a previous post, it needs just a few bits to make it more an everyday home, and not a holiday home.  We're also having these changes done before we move in, in other words, easier without the help of bears.

So, let me share with you the first of our ideas .... The Garden

Simon has drawn these plans up on sketch up for me.  So the idea is to change the patio from the old slabs and gravel, to sandstone blocks.  We're also removing our old decking step, to larger sandstone blocks, and having a little gazebo built.  The borders to are going for a makeover, and are going to be a little more "bear proof" and built up, so less toy digging (hopefully).

A new fence along the waters edge, with a gate put in for when Simon gets his boat, and also a little fence at the side, so that the side gate can be left open for visitors and the bears won't run out.

Of course, Pinterest has been a great source of inspiration for me, and I've lost many an hour on it; here are a couple of ideas I've pinned regarding the blocks

This is the style for the patio, and we're extending the old decking step, so that the garden table and chairs can sit on it, nicely.

And then these smaller square blocks for the paths

I'll leave it there, but be back with more posts on my ideas for the garden, and the rest of the house.

I apologies now if I've been bad at blogging or reading blogs.  I didn't realise how much I need to get rid of in our home, as it certainly won't all fit in the little house.

  1. Oh I too get lost in Pinterest for hours, I have to set a timer otherwise I may never return (lol). I like brick & paving stones in the first garden idea photo. Certainly an exciting times. A boat! power or sail? ... or paddle?

  2. What a great idea to have the work done before those two rascals arrive to live there permanently. What a lovely place to sit out and enjoy the summer once the work is finished.

  3. OH, it's going to be such a lovely outdoor space!

  4. It sounds so exciting (and so too does mention of a boat! what photo opportunities that would bring! And bears with life jackets!)

  5. It looks like it's going to be amazing!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and leave me a message. It means a lot x
