Back into the world of blogging

Its been a very difficult few weeks for me recently.  Some of you are aware that I lost my mother on the 1st July, and it's taken me quite some time to come to terms with it - but this isn't a sad post, instead I just wanted to explain why I've been awol recently.  I am slowly getting my act together, and I hope you all won't mind but I think I'll start my blog reading again now and afresh ... I don't think I'll be able to play catch up with past posts.

I would just like to share this poem with you from Patience Strong, who was a favourite of my grandmothers.

Life and Death

When blossom breaks on bush and spray, God speaks
to all who grieve. There is no death, He seems to say
Look up, have faith, believe.
Our loved ones pass beyond our sight. We say that
they have gone. But they are somewhere in the light -
where life and love go on.
So when you see the flower hedge, and green leaves
on the tree, remember that it is a pledge of immortality.

And I'd also like to share a layout I did a couple of years ago of my wonderful mother ... I was truly blessed to have been her daughter.

  1. My best friend lost her mum 7 years ago - this wonderful lady (named Doreen) was also my mums best friend, and like a second mum to me. The gap Doreen has left in this world can never be filled - except perhaps with the wonderful memories of her, and the love she shared with everyone. Lou (Doreens daughter and my best friend) has never yet gotten over the death of her mum - maybe you never do... but Lou still tells me almost every day that she's blessed to have had such a special mum.
Don't expect to ever get over losing such an amazing person in your life... though some days you realise that you are getting used to the pain of being without, and the ache doesn't bother you quite so much.
The layout is beautiful... what a smile! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

  10. I think a Mum is the hardest person to loose especially if close. I lost both my Mum and Hubby a month apart in 2000 yet it was her smell I yearned for and her voice I heard in my head. The great feeling of loss gets less and you tend to remember the good times and the love ...you never forget and it is good to create keepsakes ...like LO's. You will feel raw for quite a few months ...I found it good to talk to frieds...but it will get better. Take Care xx

  13. Its great to see you back blogging Sandra, all these small steps are a natural process at trying to get back to 'normal' - what ever normal is. Its been 3 years since I lost my mum and nothing is ever the same again, but slowly things will get better and life goes on. I love that poem, its just perfect.
