Me on a Monday

This Monday is all about getting back into the swing of things again.

Last week Simon had to have some biopsies done, so was a home resting. Which I absolutely love having him at home, but oh I do like it when I can get back into my normal routine too.

So lets see, this weekend was a mixture; Dinner at Mansion House on Friday night. Browsing at lovely vintage wears on Saturday and grass cutting and enjoying the garden, in warm temperatures for this time of the year, on Sunday.

Have a fun week all, and as always, thank you Sian for the lovely idea of Me on a Monday.

Upcycling

I believe the word everyone is using these days is upcycling, or the other term I've heard is Reloved.

I'm not 100% sure of either, I just know I have a lot of furniture that used to belong to my parents, and I'm giving them a lick of paint for the little house.  With that in mind, here is an old cabinet that used to sit in my parents hall, which was filled with trophies from their days playing sports.

So here is the before shot.  It had seen better days, and sadly the fabric at the back had lots of tears in it.  Also, Mum had lost the keys to the locks many years ago.

And here is the after shots. Sorry the light was not great when I photographed it.  I used the Grand Illusions Vintage Paint, in Earl Grey, and then a wax over the top.  The back has been wallpapered with the paper left over from our bedroom. And of course new keys.

I'm really pleased with it. I had a moment of panic when I started painting it, but I'm sure Mum and Dad would love it. I'm filling it with glasses and putting it under the stairs at the little house.

I have so many of these upcycling projects on the go ... and I'll share more with you.

Another year older

But I'm not sure I'm the wiser!

I'm back from our travels to Italy, and my BIG birthday celebrations.  The recycling box with all the empty bottles was picked up yesterday from after the party and the weekend, (thank goodness, as I was embarrassed by it lol)  and I'm settling back into the everyday things.

I feel like this could be a post for the month in numbers really .... as I picked up my iPad today and looked for the first time at Feedly. Yup, I've 18 days worth of blog reading to catch up on, so that's my evening and next few days sorted.

I have hundreds and hundreds of photos to sort through from Italy and the party, and I'm determined to send them off to be printed.

The fact that I'm only on week 22 of project life tells me that, I need to venture back into my craft room, which has sadly been neglected of late.

But I'm feeling very happy and positive.  So for now, I'll leave you with a hello from me, and its nice to be back getting into the swing of things. I'll share with you for now, a couple photo from my birthday celebrations - the first was our hotel room on the morning I woke up on my birthday.  Simon had decorated it with banners and balloons, while I slept. (He even organised flowers for me).  He said he was worried I'd wake up while he was doing all this :) ... The other is from the party, just before everyone arrived.

I will share some more holiday and party ones with you at a later date ... but this was just a quick hello post ....  I'm back :) xxxx

Yipppeeee its September

Good bye August, you were fun ... but yiiiiiiiiiipppppppppppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeee its September.

I love this month, and this month is even better, as I celebrate my 23 years and 324 month birthday (don't bother reaching for the calculator, yes its my 50th) lol.

So here is my round up of August

A lot of time spent with good friends, some baking, and some scrapping too, and of course time spent at the little house. Also, a visit to the dentist for me, a hospital appointment for Simon, and back on the de-cluttering band wagon, in a BIG way .. All in all, not a bad month.

But onwards and upwards, and all things September. Other than my birthday (ssooooooo excited), we're also having a little party to celebrate with friends. I also don't feel bad about starting my Christmas planning from now - but one of the most exciting things, is we're off on holiday.  Its been over 6 years since our last trip, and we can't wait.  So please excuse my lack of blog reading this week, but I'll be back on track soon.

Before I go, I want to share this little book I'm using this month to celebrate all the fun things; I can just keep it close by and jot down all the memories of this month. I think it will be a fun extra in my project life album.

Ok, back to packing .... I think I've got way too many dresses on the bed, ready to go in the suitcase ... better do a re-think. Or maybe just remove some of Simon's things.
